In December we were busy with tours in English, in Spanish, and in Catalan! Izaskun lead an exciting group around the two different “juderias” of Palma as well as the Jewish Interpretation Center. We learned that the Catalan word for Jewish Quarter is “Call” and may have roots in Hebrew. It may have come from the Hebrew word for a group of people which is “kahal” and shares the same “shoresh” or “root” for the word “kehila” which means “community.” If you want to learn more about the difference between the words “kahal” and “kehila” you will have to take the tour and find out!
